It is true that beauty is only skin deep. Skin is one of the most important aspects of our body, not only for beauty but for also remaining healthy and fit. Irrespective of age, One of the most common skin problems is having oily skin. The unwanted shininess on the face and the greasy feeling of accumulating grime and dirt is very irritating and looks awful too. But the cure is not as difficult as many of us might think.
First, we need to look at the causes. Oily skin is also known to be a hereditary condition. If your mom or dad has a history, chances are you might have it too. A very important factor is your diet. For all you know, that fat-rich oily snack you have every day might be contributing to your oily skin. Avoid cooking in oil and reduce the number of fats in your diet at any cost. Avoid pork, fries, or highly seasoned foods. And do not consume alcoholic beverages. Even soft drinks are a no-no. Pregnancy has also known to affect your skin and make it more oily. Any hormonal imbalance will contribute to oily skin as it
upsets the oil levels of our body. This may be due to birth-control pills or in the case of teenagers, adolescence. Your skin is also affected by the hot and humid weather or even bad cosmetics. And of course, one more reason to quit – Stop smoking! Smoking enlarges your skin pores and damages your skin‘s health.
There are several ways of treating oily skin. Start washing and cleansing your skin with hot water and soap regularly so that the skin pores do not get clogged. Do not use harsh products which may contain artificial additives in excess of alcohol. Try to use a natural oil-free moisturizer afterward. After cleansing, massage your face in an upward and outward motion. You can also use a clay or mud mask. Remember to use specific cosmetics which are meant for oily skin. If you are not very comfortable with artificial products, you can go for totally natural skincare. Before taking a bath, apply a half teaspoon of lime and cucumber juice mixed together. Instead of market products, you can apply a mixture of 1 teaspoon each of green clay powder and raw honey on your face. Leave it on for about fifteen minutes and rinse well with warm water afterward. Start taking a diet rich in proteins, green leafy vegetables, and fresh fruits. Vitamin B2 is very important for curing oily skin. Nutritional yeast, organ meats, bean, nuts all are rich in Vitamin b2. Drink lots and lots of pure water as this keeps the skin hydrated and flushes out toxins.
