Sunscreens come with SPF ranging from 15 to 50. It is better to use sunscreen with 15 if you use it on a daily basis. Choose those with higher SPF if you stay for longer durations in the sun on occasions such as sports activities or travel.

Basics of Sunscreen application

Sunscreen is not only useful during summers, it is necessary to apply it around the year to protect your skin from the assault of the sun all through the year. Spray types are good as you can apply them evenly all over the skin especially at the back and shoulders easily.  Make sure to shake the container properly as the main ingredients tend to settle at the bottom of the container.   It is better to apply sunscreen 20 or 30 minutes prior to exposure to sunlight to ensure that it is absorbed completely by the skin and provides better protection. When fully absorbed it is unlikely to be removed by perspiration.  At least one teaspoon of sunscreen is needed to cover the entire face including the ears and neck. One teaspoon of sunscreen is to be applied on each leg and arm, front and back of the body.
