A negative result just shows that he may not be allergic to one specific type of allergen. Further testing should be done in order to really find out which substances may cause allergies for a specific patient.

This will determine if you have any kind of skin allergies. This is usually done by introducing a certain type of allergen through the dermis. It can be done in two ways, the prick test and the patch test.

The prick or scratch test is administered to the patient by pricking the skin with a needle containing allergens. If your skin reacts to the allergens in the needle, you most likely have allergies that affect your external dermal layer.

The patch test is done by applying a patch over your skin. This patch is usually black in color and may contain the same amount of allergens to test for any type of reaction from your body.
