Ayurvedic Cure For Diabetes

Diabetes Mellitus is a medical condition in which is condition in which a person has a high blood sugar (glucose) level due to the body’s inability to produce enough insulin or due to improper response of body cells to the insulin that is produced. Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas to enable the body cells to absorb glucose converting it into energy.

Diabetes is typically a nutritional disorder, characterized by the excess glucose in the urine. It is identified by the pale color of the person’s urine, sweetish odor, and acidic reaction.  The person feels thirsty and hungry all the time, unable to put n weight tens to eat at irregular intervals, and gets tired easily. A diabetic person suffers from paleness, constipation, anemia, and general weakness. It mostly attacks the older and obese peons.

Diabetes and Ayurveda

Ayurveda has termed diabetes as Madhumeha. . Diabetes is considered as a metabolic disorder due to kapha dosha. It is due to the reduced activity by ‘Agni’ the fire that aids digestion of food. The occurrence of diabetes is attributed to the kapha aggravation due to irregular or wrong food habits, excess fat an unhealthy lifestyle, etc.

 Symptoms

  • The person feels hunger and thirst too often.
  • Feeling of exhaustion and drowsiness.
  • Low sexual urge.
  • Weight loss may be noticed
  • Wounds take very long to heal
  • May be accompanied by anemia, itching in the area surrounding the genital organ, palpitation, and constipation.

 Causes

  • Consuming foods that contain excess sugar and refined carbohydrates pushes glucose level to the potential risk of diabetes
  • Overeating leading to obesity
  • Excessive intake of proteins and fats as the excess substance is converted into sugar
  • Too much worry, tension, worry, grief or anxiety
  • Family history of diabetes – it is inherited

Ayurveda Remedy for Diabetes

  • Bitter gourd, Neem, Linn, Bael fruit, and Bilva are very effective in controlling sugar levels in the blood and they should be taken on an empty stomach on a daily basis.
  • Aloe Vera gel and turmeric are good for treating the early stages of diabetes.
  • Ground bay leaf, turmeric, and aloe vera gel should be made into a mixture and taken twice a day before meals.
  • Chandraprabhavati and Vasanta Kusumakar are excellent for controlling fungal levels
  • A powder made by grinding fenugreek seeds, turmeric, and white pepper and mixed with a glass of milk should be taken daily works well in reducing diabetes.
  • Fenugreek seeds can be soaked in water overnight and taken with water or milk in the morning is good for reducing sugar levels in the blood.
  • Amalaki Churna works well in treating diabetes.
  • Arjuna, Triphala, Lodhra, Gokshura, Ajwan, Chitrak, Haritaki, Guduchi, sandalwood, and vidanga can be used to make a decoction and taken with ghee.
  • Shilajit and Gudmar are effective in checking sugar levels

Diet Modification

  • Increase the intake of raw vegetables and herbs, in general, to stimulate the pancreas to produce more insulin.
  • Rice. Potato, banana, cereals, and fruits having a high percentage of sugar should be avoided.
  • Minimize intake of fatty food.
  • Include Paslane seeds and fenugreek as they can control sugar levels
  • Increase consumption of bitter gourd, Jambul fruit, Indian gooseberry, and grapes
  • Curd and buttermilk should be included in the diet

Lifestyle Changes

  • Avoid getting injured as healing takes a very long time.
  • Avoid infection by taking care of your feet.
  • Avoid sleeping during the day to prevent obesity.
  • Should take good care of eyes as an advanced stage of diabetes can affect the eyes.
  • Improve immunity to diseases in general.

Yoga and Pranayama

Breathing exercises are known as Pranayama in Ayurveda. Regular practice of Pranayama improves blood circulation and can correct dosha disturbances in the body. Certain yoga postures like Bhujangasana, Dhanurasana, and Shalabhasana are particularly good for diabetic patients.
