Ayurveda For Cholesterol And Coronary Diseases

The inner walls of the heart’s arteries become lined with substances like cholesterol etc leading to coronary artery disease. The accumulation of fat reduces the amount of blood flow that could travel through the arteries, eventually stopping the blood supply to the heart muscle. This condition will result in heart attacks and strokes if left unchecked.

According to Ayurveda, the most ancient Indian holistic medical practice cholesterol and coronary artery disease result from imbalances in the body.  Ayurveda principles emphasize that for healthy living the elements present in the human body and those in the universe should be in harmony. This depends on various factors like the person’s age, sex, food habits, lifestyle and so on.

Ayurveda treatments are based on the concept that diseases occur due to the disturbance in the three doshas in the body namely Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. If the pain is mild it may be due to kapha vitiation. When the pain becomes acute and has shifting nature it may be because of vata aggravation.  If the pain is associated with a burning sensation it can be concluded that it is a pitta-related disorder.
