Ayurvedic remedy for anxiety

According to Ayurveda, the ancient Indian medical system, anxiety is the result of aggravating the Vata dosha in the nervous system.  Vata is one of the three doshas namely Vata, Pitta, and Kapha, that govern the physical and psychological well-being of an individual.  Ayurveda is based on the concept that the doshas interact constantly inside the body and with the energy forces in the outside universe. When the balance of these life forces is disturbed, illnesses occur. Ayurveda treatment works on the principle that correcting the imbalance will cure the illness in the body and mind permanently.

In Ayurveda the anxiety disorders are caused by improper diet and lifestyle that lead to a disturbed state of mind because of vata dosha. The primary treatment is aimed at eliminating the vata dushti.
